The ISCP Residency supports an Irish or Ireland-based visual artist to spend three months in residence at ISCP. Housed in a former factory in Brooklyn, with 35 light-filled work studios and two galleries, ISCP is New York’s most comprehensive international visual arts residency programme.

The residency includes 24-hour access to a private furnished studio space; studio visits from visiting critics and art world professionals; field trips to museums, galleries and other cultural venues; participation in artist talks and ISCP’s Open Studios event; and supports living and materials expenses. This is an opportunity to live and work in New York City for three months where participants will have a further opportunity to network, meeting international artists and curators.

This residency is particularly suited to artists who have an established track record within their practice and would benefit from time to research, reflect, explore and network in a major city outside of Ireland. It is ideally suited to artists eager and ready to discuss and present their work with professional peers in an international studio setting.

Artists who have a confidence in their practice, and who are prepared to grasp this opportunity are encouraged to apply. Residents become part of a growing network of international artists and curators who are ISCP alumni. An ISCP residency has often led to critical advancement in the practice of the artist and curators in residence.

All artists based in Ireland and Irish artists based abroad are eligible to apply for the International Studio & Curatorial Program Residency.

Receiving the international residency award from Temple Bar Gallery + Studios was invaluable to me as I was able to fully focus on making the most of my three-month residency at ISCP, which included studio visits and opportunities to network, making work in the studio, and exploring the New York City art world. I loved my time at ISCP and the exchange with fellow residents was inspiring and informative. I found a great community there where I made genuine connections. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience New York in this way. The painting culture there is a rich source of inspiration, and I found this to be exactly the feedback that my artistic practice needed. My practice will continue to benefit from this time as I continue to metabolise what I encountered there.– Aileen Murphy, ISCP Residency recipient 2023

The ISCP Residency 2024 is a three-month residency. The successful applicant must be available to take up the residency in New York 1 September – 31 November 2024.
