International Literature Festival Dublin 2022
On an island of storytellers and in a city where books are treasured, International Literature Festival Dublin is Ireland’s leading literary event. Since 1998, we have brought the world’s finest writers together to enthral, engage and excite audiences.
In readings, conversations, debates, screenings, guided walks, events, podcasts and broadcasts, we’re proud to celebrate the very best Irish and international fiction and non-fiction authors, poets, lyricists, playwrights and screenwriters. Irish language writing and emerging talent are always supported, and new voices championed through commissions and public initiatives. Festival strands include StoryMachine, a curated series for families and children; fringe programme Boundless; and Advance professional development events. ILFDublin’s presence is felt all year with Off The Page – bespoke events featuring writers making headlines.
The world-famous International Dublin Literary Award is presented during ILFDublin. Awarded for a novel written or translated into English, it promotes excellence in world literature. One of the richest literary prizes at €100,000, it is solely sponsored by Dublin City Council.
Stories help us make sense of the world. They help us understand each other. That’s why ILFDublin is represented by a seahorse: an icon we created in tribute to the hippocampus. Did you know this mythical sea-monster, crucial to memories and learning, can be found in Dublin? Have a look at the lamps on Grattan Bridge…
At ILFDublin, celebrating writers and readers is how we tell our story.
International Literature Festival Dublin is a Dublin City Council initiative, kindly funded by The Arts Council.
