We invite artists to submit work that explores borders and boundaries. A border separates one thing from another. The part or edge of a surface or area that forms its outer boundary, verge, periphery, or rim. A line, limit, or geographic feature separating one space from another.

How to Apply

Artworks submitted may be in any discipline: painting, sculpture, print, ceramics, glass, photography, etc., from artists living on the island of Ireland or who identify Ireland as home. All work submitted will be considered by a selection panel that will meet to select the work. Not all work submitted will be selected. The panel will also select a ‘Judges Choice’ that awards one of the selected artists with a solo show in Rua Red’s Gallery 2 during the ensuing 12-month period.

Each application must include the following:

• A completed application form
• Up to 3 artworks
• Administration fee

There is a €10 administration charge per application. An application may include up to three artworks for consideration.

At Rua Red we acknowledge that the arts, like all professional sectors, continue to reflect the inequalities that exist in society, where some people are less visible and less well served than others due to bias and discrimination, conscious and unconscious. We encourage applications from all sectors of the community and strive to create a welcoming environment. All applications will be considered without regard to age, disability, ethnic background, family status, gender identity or expression, marital status, membership of the Traveler Community, national origin, race, religion, or sexual orientation.

Please note:

• Artists may submit up to three artworks for consideration.
• An application will not be considered without prior payment of the administration fee.
• Please ensure that your contact details are correct.
• If the work is selected, you will be contacted with further information regarding delivery and collection.
• The sale of artworks during the exhibition is subject to 25% commission. Sales will be managed by Rua Red.
