Circle of Friends | Maeve’s collaboration with the painter William Ireland
Wilton Gallery is pleased to announce ‘Circle of Friends’ an exhibition that explores the collaborations and friendship between the author Maeve Binchy and painter William Ireland.
This beautiful and important exhibition coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of Maeve Binchy’s passing, showcases for the first time to the public in Ireland, eight original paintings by William Ireland. Binchy described Ireland’s work as ‘warm’ and ‘full of hope’, calling to mind the themes displayed in her work with ease.
Four paintings belong to the Binchy Estate that were book covers for the novels Quentins and Nights of Rain and Stars. Ireland went on to paint ten of her novels forming part of Binchy’s story as a multi-million copy best seller translated in over 30 languages.

(a) We unearth postcards from Maeve to Ireland.
(b) We gain an insight from Orion on the new series of covers which includes Nights of Rain and Stars.
(c) Five original paintings & two prints by Ireland that celebrate the summer are available through the gallery for purchase. Each image is bold and bright.
